Potential but bugs like failed alerts

Why are development skills mutually exclusive of design skills? This app has good UI design but major bugs. Other comparable apps have ugly design but not nearly as buggy. I want this app to work well. Its closest to what I loved in my old Palm Treo 600 "MyWeek" app. But this app has major bugs like alerts never firing and poor support for Natural Language Input. Finding more bugs over time so dropping another star. Natural language input in this product is very poor compared to competing products and buggy like wrong times (12:30am is NOT 30 minutes before 1pm) and inability to use a time at start of input (e.g. "1pm lunch". ALERTS DO NOT WORK. MAJOR FAILURE FOR A CALENDAR APP. I almost missed an appointment because alerts for this app NEVER appear or sound, not on iOS 9 or 10. Yes, I have them configured correctly in app and system settings. I ended up paying $$$ for another app with good week agenda view and ALERTS THAT WORK and it was totally with it. Developer has work to do to make fundamental calendar features work in this app.

Best calendar for me.

This app puts my various calendars together in a way that is easy for me to review schedules and dates. Its easy to add appointments as they are made.

Great App

This calendar performance is to my liking. Works just fine. ????

Odd & goofy

Tried to like this thing, I really tried, but its too weird to believe rational humans came up with this crazy setup: 1) Does NOT add OS Reminders to the watch 2) Only adds calendar events to watch 3) Only adds today & tomorrow events to watch 4) NO control over which reminder list is shown on the calendar ~ its all your lists or nothing 5) BUT you can control which calendar lists show up in the app and on the watch. I cant picture how anyone could use this to organize much of anything, since its a confusing mix of what it does and doesnt do. I guess its fine for those who live by their calendar only, but if you use reminders & calendars and an iphone & a watch you are sorely stuck out on missing massive parts of your information.

Notifications dont work

For awhile I thought I didnt have my settings correct because I never get notifications, but from reading these reviews I guess its not just me. One of the reasons I like this app is that it allows for custom alerts, not just the limited, standard alerts most calendars offer. But Ive switched to another app - also with custom alerts - because this has been a longstanding problem that is apparently never going to be fixed.

Good, but liked older version better

Use this on phone & iPad mini. Have used older version for years & loved it. This does not have enough contrast--is too light On a 31 page view it does not expand to the full page. The entire app is like its in fine print. As far as functionality its great. Just needs tweaking.

TOP

Found!

This calendar app really has all the views I was missing. I like the month agenda view, and you can flip between months.

Great calendar

My favorite part of this app is that you can specify to the minute with alerts so for example I can set an alert to an appointment as one hour and one minute before while most of the programs only allow you down to five minute increments.

Nearly Five Stars

I just dropped my rating to 3 stars from 4 with this new version. Theres only one reason and thats because after all this time the authors havent added time zone support like all the other calendar programs have. Its a fine calendar simply missing this one thing thats important to people who travel between time zones. Recent update still doesnt include time zone support like EVERY OTHER CALENDAR out there. Its the only thing that makes it 4 star instead of 5 star for me. MiCal is a very good calendar but could be great with 2 simple additions. First, implement time zone support. When I book an appointment I book it at the scheduled time. Without time zone support, the time of that appointment will change depending in what time zone Im in. MiCal should let me specify a time zone for everything and not change my calendar. Secondly, widgets for the Notification Center would be a very welcome addition. UPDATE: Thanks for the widget. Ive added one star to the ratings for that. The new version Still doesnt have time zone support. This is the biggest weakness for folks who travel and set up appointments in different time zones. You never really know what time that appointment is when you travel from one part of the country to another. That simple fix will bring this up to a 5 star program. UPDATE: Dropped one star from my last rating. Another release and still no time zone support LIKR EVERY OTHER CALENDAR HAS. It may be time to go back to Calendars 5.

what a disappointment

I made the mistake of downloading this without reading the reviews first. For an app that’s supposed to be a complete re-do, it’s a complete piece of junk. It doesn’t have all of the features of the older version & isn’t worth the money. Fortunately Apple took care of it & I deleted this version & will stick with the older one. It gets 1 star because that’s a low as you can go. 6/2016 UPDATE Theyve made a lot of improvements since my original review. This is now a GREAT app.

Sweet App

I was really liking the built-in calendar and didnt think I needed an update, but after a week of use I checked out the available apps. I choose this app for several reasons; 1) the least intrusive, 2) the smallest foot print for what it packages, 3) user customization and 4) the appearance and simplistic use (meaning a very low learning curve). So after a month of use, I have opted to retain the app and use it multiple times daily. I really like all of the custom options that are easy to access and view. In conclusion, if you like the calendar app that comes standard, but would like just a tad more horsepower, look no further than this app! Update: Im still using this app on a daily basis for almost 2 years now. It is without a doubt the best replacement calendar out there. The only thing that could make this better is if Apple made this their default calendar program. Keep up the good work folks!

Good app

Wish the app kept appointments longer than 2 years old for reference, That is the only fault

Great app!

I love this app! I use it primarily to copy calendar events from one calendar to another or from one day to another. It has the functionality that should be in the standard calendar app. I have tried many, many calendar apps and this is my favorite so far.

Cant find a reason to stop using it

Love this app. Have been using it for about a year now and I just cant find a reason to switch to another calendar app.

Stellar calendar/to do app

Ive loved this authors contacts app, Contaq, for a while, so it was a no-brainer to get miCal. miCal covers all the bases —from natural language input to custom colors for events based on the title (e.g., any event with "party" in it is orange)— and then some. Outstanding interaction and visual design.

To thin

Good app but the characters are to thin. Only for 100% eyes . I used the 4.9.6 version but impossible to use this one :-( I asked the developpers It theyl do something for that problem but no answer !

No Support

The APP itself is very useful and friendly, however do not create any good expectations about the Support staff. I wrote them at least three times and NEVER got an answer.

What happened to Tasks?

Being able to have a running list of tasks to do that easily converted into an event was the main reason I loved the old version. I just paid for an upgrade that eliminated the best feature. I will not use this new version until the Task function is returned. Disappointed.

Finally

Finally an app that includes calendars tasks weather in a clean format easy to use and it works off the bat Also has natural language input like Fantastical 2 Worth every penny
