Notifications dont work

For awhile I thought I didnt have my settings correct because I never get notifications, but from reading these reviews I guess its not just me.

One of the reasons I like this app is that it allows for custom alerts, not just the limited, standard alerts most calendars offer. But Ive switched to another app - also with custom alerts - because this has been a longstanding problem that is apparently never going to be fixed.
